Planner Organization Tips & Tricks

Since school is officially in full swing I figured it was time that I do a planner organization post to show you all how I keep my life together during the hectic school days.I'm a little OCD when it comes to organizing things for school, so the school issued planners just weren't cutting it. After thinking about all the different planners out there, I decided to go with one of the famous Lilly Pulitzer agendas, and I am so happy I did. It has just enough space for me to organize everything while not being over-sized. Of course, everyone has their own way of staying organized so what works for me won't necessarily be the best way for you. With that being said I hope some of these tips and tricks help you stay more organized as you push through another school year!

1. Pick the style planner that best fits your life- Planners come in all different sizes and set ups based on your life and personal needs. Planners such as the Erin Condren LifePlanners are best for people who have an artsy flare and are in the market for an agenda that is completely customizable to their lives. Other planners, such as the Lilly Pulitzer agendas, are great for students because they offer a week on two pages layout that allows you to easily write down assignments and due dates without having to flip through a million pages. This planner also has a full month calendar for each month making it easy to keep track of meetings, social events, and work schedules.

2. Color Coordinate- Although I don't find it personally necessary to color coordinate my classes and homework, I do find it helpful to color coordinate everything that gets written down on the full month calendar. Every event that comes up gets categorized into either work, school, social, or college. By having everything organized by color, it's easier to look at a day and see what needs to be done at that specific time.

3. Create a marking system- Creating a marking system is one of the easiest ways to keep tasks organized in your planner. It allows you to see what you have completed and what still needs to be finished. For me, I usually just highlight any assignment or task after I've finished it. I find it really rewarding to look at my planner and see everything I accomplished, especially on a heavy homework night.

4. Use sticky notes - Sticky notes are a great way to make and keep lists in your agenda. I personally use them for making lists of tasks that I need to get done in study hall, or to write down books that I need to bring home for homework. Whether you use them to make to-do lists, shopping lists, or to write down weekly goals, I highly suggest keeping a pad of sticky notes tucked away in your agenda.

Hopefully, with these simple tips, you will be able to stay organized and on task for another exciting year of school! Good Luck!
