Apple Picking

Sunny skies and crisp Autumn mornings definitely call for apple picking if you ask me! A couple weekends ago I finally got to cross apple picking off of my fall bucket list and now our fridge is pretty much over-flowing with apples!

The orchard we went to was about 40 minutes from our house but well worth the drive! It's 130 acres and everywhere you look all you see is rows and rows of trees dripping with apples. They have 30 varieties of apples with my favorites being granny smith, empire, and pink lady. Almost every weekend during August-October the orchard is open to the public for "pick your own." When you get there you are given a bag and a map of the orchard, and then set free to fill your bag as much as it can possibly hold!

One of my favorite rules the farm gave for picking was that a good harvester always tastes her crop, so you better believe I did just that! By the time I walked out of there I had probably tasted as many apples as we had picked...well, maybe not quite that many! But after all that, I think it's pretty safe to say that I am already counting down the days until next years apple season!
