Blueberry Picking

Image
Yesterday was one of the nicest mornings that we have had in a while, so my mom and I decided to head out to a local organic blueberry farm and do some picking! Blueberry picking is one of my favorite things to do during the summertime, and it manages to always make it on to my summer bucket list. This year the trees were loaded so it's no wonder that we ended up taking home 6 pounds of berries!                                                          I've always had a blueberry addiction, even when I was little. I used to grab a bag of frozen blueberries from the freezer and just sit and eat them with a spoon! A classic recipe that I have made the past couple of years with the fresh berries is  blueberry cobbler . The recipe I use is from Cook's Illustrated and it is seriously the easiest recipe ever to make...which is kin...

Beat the Rainy Day Blues

Image
This summer the cabin fever is hitting hard, and it may have something to do with the fact that it has rained nearly every single day so far! I love a good thunderstorm, but when it rains day after day it can be hard to think of fun things to do to pass the time. Luckily I have a few tricks up my sleeve on how to beat the rainy day blues! 1. Have a spa day:  One of my favorite things to do when I have a spa day is to run a hot bath, usually with a bath bomb from Lush! In the bath I like to either flip through a magazine or listen to some music and chill. After having a bath I throw my hair up,  put on a face mask, and to top it all off I like to sit down to give myself a manicure and pedicure. 2. Cozy up with a good book:  Rainy days are a good excuse to stay cuddled up on the couch and dive into a good book. Along with my book, I also like to grab a bunch of blankets and pillows to sit on, and I like to make a hot drink (preferably coffee!) to sip on ...

Fitness Fun

Happy Monday everyone! I Hope you all had an amazing 4th of July weekend! This year I celebrated the fourth by hanging out with family, going on bike rides, cooking out, and watching fireworks! It's no surprise that over holiday weekends I tend to splurge a little on my day-to-day eating habits, especially with dessert, but hey who doesn't? So, in order to get back into the grove of things I decided to share with you some of my favorite workouts. Since running is not really my forte, I often find myself searching YouTube to find fun and engaging exercises. Here are a couple that I always come back to when I'm in need of a quick workout!                                                                  image via pinterest 1  /  2  /  3  /  4 XOXO, Emily

July Playlist

Image
July is here and I have to say I like the weather it has brought with it! The last month has basically been nonstop rain and cabin fever was definitely starting to kick in.  One of my favorite things to do during the summer is to go on long rides just to explore and enjoy the nice weather. Along with a good ride you need some good music, so I created a July playlist with some of my favorite songs that I have been loving lately. One song that I knew I had to include was "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5. I first heard it in Cheaper By the Dozen when I was younger and since then it has become one of my favorite songs of all time. I also included some new songs that I have discovered including "Valerie" by Amy Winehouse and "The Fool" by Ryn Weaver. Normally I find myself gravitating toward country music in the summer, but this year I decided to branch out and find some new styles, and so far I've been loving them!
