Looking Back on 2015
Happy New Year's Eve everyone!! It's hard to believe that 2015 is coming to a close, but here we are! 2015 was a year full of hanging with friends, college road-trips, applications, and starting the blog! With 2016 right around the corner, I decided to take a look back on some of my favorites of 2015!
1. Starting the Blog: As most of you know, I decided to start my blog over this summer and I am so glad that I did! It has quickly become my creative outlet and hobby over the past couple months, whether I'm working on a post, taking pictures, or redesigning the layout. While I'm proud of all my posts this year, my favorite post that I got to share with you guys was my apple picking post!
2. YouTube: I've been into watching YouTube for the past couple of years, specifically the beauty/fashion community, but this year I fell in love with watching the perfectly edited and planned out videos. From look-books to holiday makeup tutorials I've seen it all! After watching countless videos I often find myself coming back to the same people's videos so I figured I needed to share their channels with you guys! {Tess Christine, Jaclyn Hill, Siena Mirabella, Tanya Burr, Fleur de Force, and Zoella }
3. Hunter Boots: I bought my Hunter boots a couple months back and they are easily one of my favorite purchases of 2015. I have worn them a countless number of times whether it's raining, snowing, or just cold enough to get away with wearing boots! I love them because they are practical yet cute at the same time. I love shoes but I am not the type of girl who will wear a pair that kills my feet just because they are adorable!
4. Lilly Pulitzer agenda: I'm not kidding when I say my life became more organized when I got my hands on this agenda! From school events to marking out my weekend plans this agenda has done the job! I'm the type of person that would rather write stuff out versus putting it all in my phone or on the computer.
5. Getting Accepted to College: This is definitely one of the major highlights of my year! For the past couple of years college has been constantly in the back of my mind from visiting schools, finding a major, and applying! Nothing can describe the relief you feel when you find that letter waiting in the mailbox for you! Of course after getting accepted you have ten million new things to stress about but let's save that for 2016!
6. Statement Jewelry: Statement pieces were probably my favorite fashion statement from 2015. It seemed that everywhere I looked I found a new necklace or pair of earrings that I need to add to my closet! How could you not love them? They take a simple outfit and instantly make you look like you planned your outfit out days ahead when actually it only took 5 minutes!
7. Painting: I have always loved doing crafts but this year, a long with blogging, I discovered that painting is my other favorite way to let my creative juices flow! I love making a quick stop at the craft store to pick up a couple canvases, and then rushing home to look at pinterest for inspiration. I have created so many canvases that I honestly have no idea where I'm going to start putting them!
8. Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill: Alright, so I'm sort of cheating on this one because I couldn't decided which series was my favorite this year! I started watching both of these series at the beginning on the year and I couldn't stop (I blame it on the auto-play). If anyone is looking for a series to start on Netflix I highly recommend both of these.
9. Pinterest: This is a dead give away for anyone who knows me. I could spend hours upon hours on pinterest without even feeling guilty about it! For that, it gets to be my favorite way of procrastinating in 2015!
10. Going to my first concert: At the beginning of this summer I finally attended my first concert and it definitely gave me the concert bug! Right now, the artist that I want to see in concert the most is Ed Sheeran!
11. Bonfires with friends: This summer was the summer of late nights around the fire and nothing made me happier. My friends and I had several fires filled with singing old disney songs, making s'mores, and star tipping!
12. Winged eyeliner: 2015 was finally the year I mastered winged eyeliner! Finally, after months of uneven wings I mastered the the trickiest beauty trend out there!
13. Tory Burch perfume: I discovered this perfume a couple weeks ago and fell in love with it! I am picky when it comes to perfumes, they can't be too sweet or too musky, or too floral. The Tory Burch Absolu perfume is a winner in my book.
14. J.Crew: My obsession with J.Crew is real! It's always the first store I want to go to when I'm out and about shopping. Their clothes fit my style perfectly and I am always eager to see what's new in the store. Not to mention that their factory store is the best outlet store I have ever been to!
15. First Car: Getting my first car was another HUGE highlight of 2015! My family surprised me over the summer with it and I was shocked! Nothing is better than not having to rely on someone for a ride everywhere. This made getting to work, and school 10 times easier, as well as going out with friends!
Here's to a Happy New Year!
XOXO, Emily
