Looking Back on 2015

Image
Happy New Year's Eve everyone!! It's hard to believe that 2015 is coming to a close, but here we are! 2015 was a year full of hanging with friends, college road-trips, applications, and starting the blog! With 2016 right around the corner, I decided to take a look back on some of my favorites of 2015! 1. Starting the Blog: As most of you know, I decided to start my blog over this summer and I am so glad that I did! It has quickly become my creative outlet and hobby over the past couple months, whether I'm working on a post, taking pictures, or redesigning the layout. While I'm proud of all my posts this year, my favorite post that I got to share with you guys was my  apple picking  post! 2. YouTube: I've been into watching YouTube for the past couple of years, specifically  the beauty/fashion community, but this year I fell in love with watching the perfectly edited and planned out videos. From look-books to holiday makeup tutorials I've seen it all! Aft...

December Playlist

Image
Whether I'm decorating the tree, baking cookies, or driving to school you can bet I have the Christmas tunes on full blast! As much as I don't want to admit it, I have been listening to X-mas music since it started playing the day after Thanksgiving! There are so many Christmas songs and versions out there that I thought I would narrow them down and share my favorite ones of all time with you. Thanks to Home Alone my top two favorites ever are Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and White Christmas! As of today our tree is fully decorated so between that and the music I am finally getting into the Christmas spirit, now all I need is a dusting of snow and a stack of warm cookies! Christmas Gift Guide

Image
Today officially begins the countdown to Christmas and I couldn't be more excited! But, for many of us this means rushing around to find the perfect last minute gifts. To help out, I put together a gift guide with ideas from the best beauty buys to the finishing touch on a room re-do! For the Home: Home decorations are one of my favorite things to look at for gift ideas,  whether it's a simple candle, or pretty pillows to put the finishing touch on a new room! Anthropologie is one of the best places to look when it comes to small home gifts. They have beautiful and unique pieces that never seem to disappoint!                           Beauty: Beauty gifts are probably the most fun gifts to shop for since it often involves swatching nearly every product in Sephora to find the perfect match for the makeup lover in your life! With all the palettes and kits that are released around ...

Apple Picking

Image
Sunny skies and crisp Autumn mornings definitely call for apple picking if you ask me! A couple weekends ago I finally got to cross apple picking off of my fall bucket list and now our fridge is pretty much over-flowing with apples! The orchard we went to was about 40 minutes from our house but well worth the drive! It's 130 acres and everywhere you look all you see is rows and rows of trees dripping with apples. They have 30 varieties of apples with my favorites being granny smith, empire, and pink lady. Almost every weekend during August-October the orchard is open to the public for "pick your own." When you get there you are given a bag and a map of the orchard, and then set free to fill your bag as much as it can possibly hold! One of my favorite rules the farm gave for picking was that a good harvester always tastes her crop, so you better believe I did just that! By the time I walked out of there I had probably tasted as many apples as we had picked...we...

Fall Pinspiration

Image
Fall is in full swing and my pinterest feed has the proof to show it! Between all the pumpkins, orange and yellow leaves, and the perfectly poured coffee it's hard not to be happy when scrolling through pinterest. I still have a couple of things on my fall bucket list to accomplish like apple picking, going on a hayride, and carving  pumpkins so hopefully this will give you guys, as well as myself, a little motivation! Hope everyone is enjoying their fall! XOXO, Emily images via pinterest

Fall Favorites

Image
Fall is officially here and since it is by far my favorite season,  I decided it was time to do the Fall Favorites Tag! This tag is pretty popular on YouTube but I decided to mix questions from several different versions of the tag and make my own! 1. Favorite fall nail polish:  Fall is hands down my favorite season for nail polish because it means I get to break out all my dark colors! Since picking favorite polishes is such a struggle for me I always come back to my two favorite colors, Gayle and Demi by Julep. 2. Favorite fall candle: Pumpkin, chai, or vanilla scents! I am like a kid in a candy store when shops put out all the fall candles. The pumpkin scent that has won over my heart this year is Pumpkin Vanilla and Vanilla Chai from Bath & Body Works. 3. Favorite fall/Halloween movie:  Without even thinking it's hands down Hocus Pocus! There is just something about this movie that I love, and frankly I have to stop myself from watching it all year long! ...

Planner Organization Tips & Tricks

Image
Since school is officially in full swing I figured it was time that I do a planner organization post to show you all how I keep my life together during the hectic school days.I'm a little OCD when it comes to organizing things for school, so the school issued planners just weren't cutting it. After thinking about all the different planners out there, I decided to go with one of the famous Lilly Pulitzer agendas, and I am so happy I did. It has just enough space for me to organize everything while not being over-sized. Of course, everyone has their own way of staying organized so what works for me won't necessarily be the best way for you. With that being said I hope some of these tips and tricks help you stay more organized as you push through another school year!   1. Pick the style planner that best fits your life-  Planners come in all different sizes and set ups based on your life and personal needs. Planners such as the Erin Condren  LifePlanners  are best ...

DIY Notebook Decoration

Image
One thing that makes me happy about going back to school is getting new school supplies! Ever since I was little, I've loved office supplies and the number of notebooks and journals I've owned through the years is a bit outrageous! Normally I tend to be on the hunt for notebooks and binders in bright fun colors, but this year  I decided to pick up some plain supplies and add my own touch to them! This project was super easy to do and all you need are plain notebooks, mod podge, a paint brush, and pictures (I got all mine from pinterest). After I gathered all of my supplies and pictures, I used the website Pic Monkey  to make the pattern for my collage. After you create your template, import the pictures you want on the cover into the template and mess around with what parts of the pictures you want showing in the collage. After you collage all your pictures together print out your collage and cut out the pictures. Play around with how you want the pictures spaced/arranged...

Friday Favorites

Image
Happy Friday everyone! So I figured since my very first post two months ago was my summer essentials/faves that it is about time I give you an update! It's hard to believe that it's already August, and that in less than a month I will be heading back to school:( I guess that means I need to plan out some back to school posts, but let's not rush ourselves! In the mean time, here is what I have been loving lately! My first favorite is my Lauren by Ralph Lauren tote bag ( similar ). Ralph Lauren handbags can be pretty pricey so I was happy when I snagged this baby from Marshall's for almost half the price. It has been my go-to catch all bag this entire summer. It has a ton of space so it's perfect for everything from carrying stuff to work to throwing in the car for a college road trip! The next thing that I've been loving is my Lilly Pulitzer  agenda . This is my first time getting a Lilly agenda and I am a total convert. The past several years I have be...

Blueberry Picking

Image
Yesterday was one of the nicest mornings that we have had in a while, so my mom and I decided to head out to a local organic blueberry farm and do some picking! Blueberry picking is one of my favorite things to do during the summertime, and it manages to always make it on to my summer bucket list. This year the trees were loaded so it's no wonder that we ended up taking home 6 pounds of berries!                                                          I've always had a blueberry addiction, even when I was little. I used to grab a bag of frozen blueberries from the freezer and just sit and eat them with a spoon! A classic recipe that I have made the past couple of years with the fresh berries is  blueberry cobbler . The recipe I use is from Cook's Illustrated and it is seriously the easiest recipe ever to make...which is kin...

Beat the Rainy Day Blues

Image
This summer the cabin fever is hitting hard, and it may have something to do with the fact that it has rained nearly every single day so far! I love a good thunderstorm, but when it rains day after day it can be hard to think of fun things to do to pass the time. Luckily I have a few tricks up my sleeve on how to beat the rainy day blues! 1. Have a spa day:  One of my favorite things to do when I have a spa day is to run a hot bath, usually with a bath bomb from Lush! In the bath I like to either flip through a magazine or listen to some music and chill. After having a bath I throw my hair up,  put on a face mask, and to top it all off I like to sit down to give myself a manicure and pedicure. 2. Cozy up with a good book:  Rainy days are a good excuse to stay cuddled up on the couch and dive into a good book. Along with my book, I also like to grab a bunch of blankets and pillows to sit on, and I like to make a hot drink (preferably coffee!) to sip on ...

Fitness Fun

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I Hope you all had an amazing 4th of July weekend! This year I celebrated the fourth by hanging out with family, going on bike rides, cooking out, and watching fireworks! It's no surprise that over holiday weekends I tend to splurge a little on my day-to-day eating habits, especially with dessert, but hey who doesn't? So, in order to get back into the grove of things I decided to share with you some of my favorite workouts. Since running is not really my forte, I often find myself searching YouTube to find fun and engaging exercises. Here are a couple that I always come back to when I'm in need of a quick workout!                                                                  image via pinterest 1  /  2  /  3  /  4 XOXO, Emily
